Week of 4/24

Now that concert week is over, it's time to get back into GROUPS!!!! Here's the plan.

VC Theory: We will have an intro to dictation and then spend some time reviewing for your final.

RC3 & RC4 Piano: Your piano final will be performing the piece of repertoire that you chose before the February break. You will have 6 class days to get it perfected before your in-class finals the week of 5/15. As you are ready, you will be allowed to work on your Garageband arrangement. Those students whose pieces are outstanding will have the opportunity to play for piano recitals in 5th period, also the week of 5/15.

Loewe Theory: This week we have a three day crash course over function of triads, 7th chords, and chord reduction and analysis. They will be extremely full days, so if you miss a day, please see me to receive the information and/or make up the classwork.

Looking ahead for Chamber--starting next week seniors will have your college prep unit. Those of you who are going into music or musical theater in college, please make sure that you bring a copy of your school's music theory placement exam. Those of you going into college for something other than music will have a final research project to wrap up your understanding of theory in "real world" music. More details to come in class.

Week of 2/6

Senior Soiree is this Friday! See Dr. Woolf for tickets ($5--cash only). Don't forget that this would fulfill the requirement for a senior recital credit if you attend and turn in a recital credit about the performance by Feb. 17th.

Here's the plan for my groups this week:

VC: Wrapping up key signatures with application to sight-reading. You will have a quiz on Friday.

RC3: Recording for you technology project will begin in the next few weeks, so your class time this week needs to be devoted to wrapping up your piece (if you are at that place), or learning as much of it as you can. You will be cleared to record on an individual basis.

RC4: We will wrap up the warm up project in groups this week and then get repertoire for the rest of the semester.

CC: Still no theory until after February break.
