Week of 11/27/17

Welcome back! Hope y'all enjoyed your Thanksgiving break and got lots of rest. :) We're primarily focusing on concert repertoire this week since your holiday concert is two weeks away (Dec. 8th). However, RC3 will have one group rotation in order to wrap up those scales, which are due on this Friday, Dec. 1st. PLEASE send me videos outside of class if you want to be able to finish this up on time, especially if you still have 3 or more scales/cadences to go. After December 1st, you will only get half credit for each Major key.

Those students whose pieces are outstanding will have the opportunity to play for piano recitals in 5th period, also the week of 5/15.

Loewe Theory: This week we have a three day crash course over function of triads, 7th chords, and chord reduction and analysis. They will be extremely full days, so if you miss a day, please see me to receive the information and/or make up the classwork.

Looking ahead for Chamber--starting next week seniors will have your college prep unit. Those of you who are going into music or musical theater in college, please make sure that you bring a copy of your school's music theory placement exam. Those of you going into college for something other than music will have a final research project to wrap up your understanding of theory in "real world" music. More details to come in class.
